They were permanently bruised. Her arms were invaded by thick needles three times a week. This is not what I wanted to say.As you can see, my mother was no one important. I was witness to this departure. She was in the room when I came into this world, and I was in the room when she left it.It is said the eyes are the windows to the soul and it only takes one breath for it to leave. She was put in a room on her own to die. The decision was made to stop dialysis and all medication. Four months down the line we were told she was no longer struggling, she was suffering. She was born to a peasant family and lived a labourers’ life. She didn’t invent anything. She was not royalty or a sports person. Os x dlnaTo love all persons.To respect all persons. I wanted to tell them standing in front of the open casket looking at her face one last time.I wanted to tell them that this person taught me three things in life. I wanted to tell the people who took time out of their day to pay their respects to my mother, what that simple person taught me in life. She would burn incense on Saturday evenings for the souls.And yet, this is still, not what I wanted to say. We would celebrate Easter and Christmas. I remember growing up, when I was a young girl and she was still well, we would go to mass on Sundays. It didn’t take me long to decide which world I wanted to live in.I slammed the door shut on my faith and now live on the other side.This week’s Changing Track for Vicki, is “I’m Sending You Light,” by Melanie DeMore. From that point on I was done with religion. My faith, my religion failed me in the most basic and fundamental of ways. This simple request was denied to me by a priest.
